I’m going to do a really short review of each book that I read this year. I hope it’s useful in even the smallest way.
I’m possibly slightly biased here as this is a subject that I am very interested in but this book really is great. I have read A LOT about Bitcoin so I was not expecting to learn much but boy was I wrong!
Ammous starts with throughly exploring what money is and which attributes are most important for longevity and success of society. I found his depth of knowledge and research impressive and it really did lay the groundwork for understanding the philosophy of Bitcoin from a first principles perspective.
He feels pretty strongly about Keynes and all that he stood for and wrote about and isn’t scared to voice his opinion. He challenges centralised banking and authority in a well thought out and researched manner and makes some very compelling arguments in favour of some of Bitcoins key attributes such as sovereignty, decentralisation and fixed supply.
He has some views on Blockchain technology as a whole that I don’t necessarily agree with, but presents his arguments well and I enjoyed reading the contrarian views.
I would highly recommend this book for anyone that is interested in money, economics, cryptocurrency, blockchain or decentralisation.
I’ll be back soon to do my next book review. Thanks for reading.
